Emergency and Transitional Shelter

If you or someone you know is currently homeless in the Johnson County area, you can find safe shelter at Shelter House. Shelter House is staffed and available to help 7 days a week.

Shelter House provides both emergency and short-term transitional housing to men, women, children and the disabled and elderly.

During the 2007/2008 operating year, Shelter House provided shelter and supportive services to 452 individuals for a total of 11,182 nights stayed.

In addition to temporary housing, Shelter House also offers many supportive services that help individuals and families make the transition to more stable and productive lives.

 

More Than Shelter

 

Shelter House also provides:

  • breakfast and a nightly meal
  • shower and laundry facilities
  • mailing address, phone and message service

 

Anyone intending more than a transient stay is expected to participate in the In-House Counseling Program.  Counseling focuses on assisting participants to become self-sufficient.
