Our Client Services Volunteer Positions give you a chance to work directly with our clients, staff, and other volunteers to provide services to the homeless. These volunteer positions require a 3 hour shift scheduled every week for 6 months. Shifts are available from 9am to 9pm Monday through Friday and from 8am-11am and 5pm-9pm on Saturday and Sunday’s.
Client Services Volunteer
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist clients with completing applications for jobs or housing.
- Assist clients with completing paperwork for referrals or services.
- Help clients’ access donations.
- Educate clients about our services.
- Track services rendered for our records.
- Monitor different areas of the shelter facility.
- Answer the telephone and direct calls.
Family Volunteer
Duties will vary depending on the needs of the day and if families are currently staying with us. Duties can include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate morning or afternoon snacks for children at Shelter House.
- Coordinate activities with children while their parents are working with case managers.
- Tutor children on various school subjects.
- Mentor children and/or adults.
- Provide afterschool and/or evening child care while parents attend required skills workshops.
- Help clients’ access area resources to aid in securing housing for their family.
Spanish Translator Volunteer
This volunteer is needed to help translate for Spanish speaking clients. This volunteer would translate at scheduled meetings between the client and case manager, at a time convenient to all parties.
